Caleb Hilton (left) and Sebastian Hovens, the two spirituality seminarians at Holy Cross, received the cassock on Low Sunday.

One Australian and one New Zealander received the cassock on Low Sunday.

The Church in her wisdom prepares seminarians for the priesthood through a number of steps. The first of these steps is when the seminarian receives the clerical habit or “cassock”. By wearing the cassock, the seminarian announces to the world that he has put aside worldly pursuits to dedicate himself entirely to the service of God and his Church.

At Holy Cross Seminary, the Taking of the Cassock typically occurs on Low Sunday. This year, the community had the joy of witnessing two young men, one from New Zealand and one from Australia, received the cassock from the Rector, Fr Themann. Fr Themann's sermon for this occasion can be found here.

Please keep these young men in your prayers.
